The Truncated Icosahedron, first enumerated by Archimedes, is made up of 12 pentagon faces and 20 hexagon faces, which are all left open. The artist uses geometric principles and extreme precision to create shapes that perfectly interlock to create a whole. The scale of this sculpture invites the viewer to consider the mathematical ratios in its construction.
